March 16-17, 2018 —I was honored to participate in the XYoga Dubai Festival 2018 in the United Arab Emirates. This was my third trip to Dubai and I have certainly fallen in love with the place! I taught a Breathe & Burn Vinyasa Yoga class, as well as my special Blissful Vibrations session which mixes movement, motivation, music and meditation. In addition, I gave a talk about my dear teacher, 99-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch. READ MORE AND VIEW PICTURES.
Sometimes the weight of life can seem heavy. You can either be crushed by it or learn how to carry the load. In the fall of 2016, I was traveling non-stop for my work with yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch. At now almost 100 years old, she shows us how to live with vitality regardless of age. Dancing Light, the book we co-wrote (along with my mom Janie Sykes-Kennedy) won ten awards, and then Tao and I were featured in Athleta’s Power of She campaign. It’s been an exciting time. However, I’ve been experiencing a very strange dichotomy. In between amplifying Tao’s light, I have been fighting extreme darkness in the sunny state of Florida.
July 14, 2016–97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch and I spent the afternoon with Shwaasaguru Sri Vachananand Swamiji from Bangalore. He is a yogic science expert and philosopher best known for his mass yoga camps, TV shows in India and teaching of Shwaasa yoga. He was sent to his Master Sri Marulashankara Shivayogi at age 8 and has been dedicated to the yogic lifestyle since. Tao presented Shwaasaguru with her Dancing Light book. He presented her with an Ishta-linga – a grey slate stone to aid in a specific meditation technique. It is a key aspect of Shiva-yoga. He also informed Tao that she will be honored in the 2017 Yoga Ratna Awards in Bangalore next year.
