We’re delighted to see 98-year-old yoga master featured again in The New York Times. Our book, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master, is mentioned as well.

As the 71st session of the General Assembly of the United Nations begins this week to discuss international issues that affect the lives of millions throughout the world, the United States needs to step up its commitment to safeguard human rights and promote the rule of law in its own backyard — specifically, escalating abuse in the U.S. Elder Guardianship system.
August 7, 2016–Although August 13th is Yoga Master Tao Porchon-Lynch’s actual birth date, on Sunday there was a grand bash at the Taj Palace Restaurant in White Plains, New York to celebrate her 98th! Tao’s extended family of friends and colleagues from her various walks of life — such as yoga, dance and wine — were all there. It’s a testament to how you can create your own community of love regardless of whether you have blood relatives who are present (or you want around).

July 22, 2016–The 4th annual Yoga Jam took place in Harbor Point, Stamford CT. It was a tremendous event featuring yoga, dance, music, shopping, and celebration of community to raise money for the Africa Yoga Project. 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch gave the opening remarks and meditation. At the end, I facilitated a Q&A with her.
July 20, 2016–Early on Wednesday morning a group of New York’s change agents and elite came out to see 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch at the prestigious CORE: Club on East 55th Street in partnership with the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) organization led by Wendy Diamond. In addition to the regular breakfast series Wendy hosts, we thought that a short yoga class with Tao would be a treat to give people a taste of her teachings. Afterwards, I was delighted to moderate the conversation alongside Wendy.
July 15, 2016–I was delighted to make another cameo in a news piece with 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch, this time with ABC News online. For the last few years, as I was co-authoring Tao’s autobiography, I’ve traveled with her moderating conversations and assisting in yoga workshops. The pictures in this news piece are from our time in Jamaica as we were finishing Dancing Light.
July 14, 2016–97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch and I spent the afternoon with Shwaasaguru Sri Vachananand Swamiji from Bangalore. He is a yogic science expert and philosopher best known for his mass yoga camps, TV shows in India and teaching of Shwaasa yoga. He was sent to his Master Sri Marulashankara Shivayogi at age 8 and has been dedicated to the yogic lifestyle since. Tao presented Shwaasaguru with her Dancing Light book. He presented her with an Ishta-linga – a grey slate stone to aid in a specific meditation technique. It is a key aspect of Shiva-yoga. He also informed Tao that she will be honored in the 2017 Yoga Ratna Awards in Bangalore next year.
July 12, 2016–Over the last few years, I’ve stayed in the background from a media standpoint to focus my energies on shining light on 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch. Now I’m easing back in the public eye with some cameos. I was delighted to be in a CBS News featuring Mary Calvi. It was such a pleasure working with Mary, who is also First Lady of Yonkers. She joined Tao’s Thursday morning yoga session at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Hartsdale, New York. It was her first yoga class and she looked like a pro! I made comments on Tao as her student and co-author of her autobiography, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master.
