THE BUZZ: On November 5th, 2011, I hosted a yoga workshop at the Dwyer Cultural Center in Harlem with Tao Porchon-Lynch – my inspiration and 93-year-old master yoga teacher. It was Tao’s first time in Harlem and it will certainly not be her last. She connected with the community and they connected with her spirit.

IMAGINATION. How much do you dream? Can you envision your possibilities? Are you using your imagination to empower your life? It was exclusive to girls, so I didn’t invite my brother and Dad (“gal” was my version of “girl” which came from my initial schooling in Australia). I even created membership cards and established rules – maybe that’s why one of my kindergarten classmates gave me the nickname “boss lady”. I was set on making sure we were healthy and fit, and I enjoyed being in charge.
Q&A: Starting this New Year, I’ve recommitted myself to my health. I work out 4 times a week (which includes cardio, weights and yoga). I don’t eat beef or pork but love chicken, fish and tofu. I’m looking to create a simple eating plan that will allow for enough protein and carbs to keep me going. What do you recommend?
