THE BUZZ: On August 17th and 18th, 2012, I attended Omega’s 2012 Being Yoga Conference Retreat at their beautiful Rhinebeck, New York campus. Just two hours from Manhattan by train, Omega is a wonderful place for renewal. The setting is serene, the food is healthy and delicious, and all of the programs are focused on self-development.

THE BUZZ: On Sunday, August 12th, 2012, I attended the 94th Birthday party for yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch. It was held at the Knollwood Country Club in Elmsford, NY. Tao’s party has become an annual tradition. So many people who have been touched by Tao’s life come out to celebrate her. We have great food and Tao dances…then we all dance! Joyce Pines outdid herself in the planning again.
BOOK: The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Commentary by Sri Swami Satchidananda – The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is the primary text of Raja Yoga – the path of concentration and meditation. I first read it during my yoga teacher training and continue to reference it. The Sutras, or thought-threads, are at least 4,000 years old and cover the yogic teachings on ethics, meditation, and physical postures. They also provide guidance for dealing with situations in everyday life.
THE BUZZ: On Sunday, May 13th 2012, I had the distinct honor of presenting the Guinness World Record for Oldest Yoga Teacher to my inspiration 93-year-old Yoga Master Tao Porchon-Lynch. Tao has over 70 years of yoga practice and more than 45 years of teaching yoga to students in India, France and the U.S.
HUFFPOST: The 93-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch was recently named “oldest yoga teacher” by the Guinness World Records. I’ve had the pleasure of studying with Tao and spending time with her over the last few years. She is one of my inspirations and certainly an example of what I call “Power Living.” Her journey provides insights to crafting an amazing life.
