The long-awaited autobiography of yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through The Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master, is almost ready for release!! We just received the advance copies in hand today (August 6th). The book is gorgeous… definitely worth the wait! The first book will be presented to Tao at her 97th Birthday Party on Sunday, August 9th with a few copies to flip through. About two weeks or so after that, we’ll receive the entire shipment. The book is 504 pages with 459 images so we decided to invest in the highest quality library grade Symth Sewn binding which takes a little longer but will stand the test of time. Look out for the exact release date. In the meantime, here are the numbers…
On Saturday, May 16, 2015, I was delighted to have a birthday lunch with two of my favorite women – my mom Janie Sykes-Kennedy and teacher/mentor 96-year-old Yoga Master Tao Porchon-Lynch at the Taj Palace in White Plains, New York. Together, we are co-authors on Tao’s new memoir, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master.
With warm waters, fresh fruits, friendly people and (nearly) perfect weather, the island of Jamaica is a slice of paradise. That was the setting for our writing retreat for 96-year-old Tao Porchon-Lynch’s upcoming inspirational memoir, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master. As Harriet Beecher Stowe said, “Most mothers are instinctive philosophers.” My mom has certainly been the source of constant inspiration. Anyone who has heard me speak has heard stories about her. Although she is highly educated and accomplished, her advice is usually quite simple yet powerful if applied. I didn’t always listen to her growing up, but now I savor every word.
THE BUZZ: On Sunday, May 13th 2012, I had the distinct honor of presenting the Guinness World Record for Oldest Yoga Teacher to my inspiration 93-year-old Yoga Master Tao Porchon-Lynch. Tao has over 70 years of yoga practice and more than 45 years of teaching yoga to students in India, France and the U.S.
