Focus To See The Light

As Aristotle Onassis said, “It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.”

How do you turn sadness around? “The City of Light” went dark after the recent terrorist attacks on innocent people in Paris. Those on the ground were devastated and the rest of us were simply stunned seeing the mayhem in one of the most idyllic places in the developed world. Once again, it was a reminder of how life can change in an instant. At first, I got pulled into checking social media to see if friends were okay and watching various news programs. Unwittingly, I was allowing images of destruction to seep into my subconscious. To counter that, I binge-watched light and cheery holiday movies to get my mind off of the negative reports. Finally, I went outside. No matter how dark things may seem, focus as hard as you can to see the light. Take a walk and contemplate the beauty of nature. Hug loved ones. Meditate or take a yoga class. Write in a gratitude journal. Turn off all media. If you are going to watch television, escape with something that will make you laugh. No matter how dark things may seem, the light is always there peaking through the clouds.

Until next time, remember–it’s your divine life, live it to the fullest. The power is in your hands!
