What kind of person are you? Early on, Mary Kay sold books door-to-door while her husband served in World War II. She then became a top salesperson at Stanley Home Products and spent over a decade at World Gifts. Sick of watching yet another man that she trained get promoted above her and earn a much higher salary, she quit to create her own vision of how business should be run. Despite setbacks – a divorce and then the death of her new husband one month after they married – she did not give up. In 1963, at the age of 45, she started Mary Kay Cosmetics. The company turned a profit in its first year and now has over $3 billion in revenue and 3 million Independent Consultants. If there is a dream in your heart or a goal you want to achieve, now is the time to make things happen. No matter how big the obstacles seem, keep pressing forward. Be fully engaged with life. Instead of sitting around watching it rain, be a rainmaker.
